How MCP works — MCP Tools AU
How it works
An agent needs data and actions: read a file, search a document, check a calendar, or send a message. Without a standard, every tool needs separate code.
MCP gives that connection a common shape. The agent lists what it can use, calls a tool with clear inputs, and gets a clear result back. The person using the agent still controls what is connected and what it is allowed to do.
That control matters: a tool should only get the access its task needs, and its actions should be logged so they can be checked later.
